Opportunity Knocks for Girls’ Competitive Flag Football
Girls’ competitive flag football took another exciting step forward as several teams gathered for a spirited evening of competition, development and community at D’Arcy McGee field. Under the lights, athletes had the opportunity to test their skills, work on plays and make real-time adjustments while putting into action the areas they have focused on in practice.
The event reflected the growing enthusiasm and shared commitment behind the competitive girls’ game. Bringing programs together created valuable opportunities for players and coaches to learn, compete and build confidence in an encouraging environment.

Special thanks go to Gawain Harding, Leath Harding and Giovanni La Valle for creating the opportunity for teams to compete and grow within the sport. Appreciation also goes to Eric Parthenais and the Cumberland Panthers, along with Scott Hunter and the Belair Lions, for joining the Young Guns and contributing to the strong level of competition.
The atmosphere made the night especially memorable. Parents and fans cheered from the sidelines, and an abundance of hot chocolate helped keep everyone warm as the players took the field.
The Gatineau Vikings, as the parent organization, deserve sincere thanks for providing the venue and for their ongoing generosity and commitment to girls’ flag football. With organizations, coaches, families and athletes all working together, the future of the competitive game is bright—and evenings like this show just how much opportunity lies ahead.
