It’s About the Process: NCYG Tryouts

In the world of competitive flag football, the process is as important—if not more important—than the result. For many players, the experience of trying out for a competitive team is filled with challenges, learning experiences, personal growth, and competition. Throughout this process, players come to realize many things: where they stand today in terms of knowledge and skill, where they aspire to be, and how they measure up against other competitors.

I have always believed this is a crucial step in the process which contributes to the player’s overall growth and development. The tryout phase provides players with the opportunity to experience what it takes to be successful both in the sport and in life.

During the NCYG tryouts, our players learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. This experience also highlighted the importance of embracing challenges, striving for continuous improvement, and demonstrating determination.

As a coach to these young athletes, it is a tremendous privilege and responsibility to help shape their perspective, standards, and approach towards competition, as well as the ongoing effort required to grow.

Over time, I have learned that there will be wins and losses, but the process is what’s most important both to the athletes and to me as a coach.

Great job, girls!
