A Memorable Night for the National Capital Young Guns
The National Capital Young Guns enjoyed an unforgettable evening at practice this week, highlighted by the special appearance of Team Ontario standout Charley Toivenen and respected coach and mentor Chris Toivenen. Their visit brought energy, insight, and inspiration to a group of young athletes eager to learn and grow.
From the moment Charley and Chris stepped on the facility, the girls were fully engaged—listening, asking questions, and embracing every opportunity to sharpen their skills. Charley shared stories from her journey through competitive flag football, offering valuable perspectives on discipline, confidence, and pushing through challenges. Chris complemented this with thoughtful guidance, emphasizing development, resilience, and the importance of enjoying the game.
Throughout the practice, the Toivonens worked hands‑on with the players, demonstrating techniques, giving personalized feedback, and fostering an encouraging environment that motivated everyone to bring their best effort. Their presence not only elevated the quality of the session but also created moments of excitement the team won’t soon forget.
The coaches and players were genuinely grateful for the time, enthusiasm, and expertise both Charley and Chris brought to the field. Their willingness to share their experiences and lessons learned made a meaningful impact on the team’s growth—both as athletes and as young leaders.
Thank you, Charley and Chris, for joining us and making the night such a memorable and inspiring one. The girls and coaches truly appreciated your support, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.
